What is this innovation about?

Separett’s toilets operate without water or sewage connections, providing a solution that allows businesses to offer sanitary facilities in rural areas not connected to the water grid. Waterless composting toilets convert human waste into reusable compost, eliminating the need for water or the use of chemicals that might harm the environment.

What’s in it for a tourism SME?

By reducing reliance on water infrastructure and waste disposal systems, SMEs can save on operational costs and, more importantly, provide sanitary facilities to guests in areas that are not connected to water or sewage systems. Tourism SMEs can also leverage these eco-friendly facilities to position themselves as sustainable businesses, meeting the preferences of eco-conscious tourists in natural and rural areas. Additionally, the ease of installation and maintenance ensures minimal disruption to business operations.

While initial installation costs range from €1,000 to €3,000 per unit, investing in waterless toilets offers long-term benefits and provides an extra service to customers. Despite being waterless, these toilets still require electricity and ventilation to function, and ventilation requirements may vary between models.
