What is this innovation about?

Tourism SMEs operating in remote “off-grid areas” often lack conventional sanitary facilities or improvise solutions, such as septic tanks, that create negative impacts on the environment. Innovative Bio Toilets use a specific bacteria to treat toilet wastewater effectively. Post-treatment, wastewater can be safely released into nature without negative environmental impacts, maintaining hygiene and environmental integrity in remote and protected areas.

For tourism SMEs operating in off-grid or protected areas, bio toilets offer an eco-friendly solution to the lack of conventional sanitary facilities for their guests. They help attract a wider variety of visitors, including those more concerned about the presence of sanitary facilities, while respecting the environment.
