PROJECT SUMMARY & NEEDS
Project summary
The SME aimed to raise awareness of sustainable fishing, local seafood products, and maritime heritage while diversifying tourism experiences through accessible digital tools. To achieve this, it developed a multilingual digital graphic adventure, an interactive seafood guide, and immersive 360° virtual reality experiences. As a result, visitors gained easier access to engaging educational content, improving learning, participation, and outreach to new audiences. This matters for green, digital, and resilient tourism because it promotes sustainable consumption, preserves local cultural heritage, reduces access barriers, and creates innovative tourism experiences that support more regenerative and sustainable tourism models.

OUTPUTS & OUTCOMES
Solution implemented
A gamified digital platform, an interactive seafood guide, and immersive 360° VR experiences were developed and integrated into the Cap a Mar website and educational activities. The tools were implemented in three languages and made accessible through web-based and virtual reality formats. The solution was designed to improve visitor engagement, awareness of sustainable fishing and local gastronomy, accessibility to maritime heritage content, and the diversification of tourism experiences through innovative digital resources.
Cross-Domain Innovation element
The project adapted gamification, digital learning, and virtual reality technologies commonly used in the education, cultural heritage, and entertainment sectors to create innovative tourism experiences. An online graphic adventure, interactive guides, and 360° immersive VR content were applied to raise awareness of sustainable fishing, local gastronomy, and maritime heritage, making specialized knowledge more accessible and engaging for visitors.

Lesson learned & Best practices:
Digital tools such as gamified experiences, interactive guides, and immersive VR content can successfully transform local heritage and sustainability topics into engaging tourism products. A key success factor was combining expert knowledge, local stakeholder participation, and accessible multilingual content. Tourism SMEs should prioritize user-friendly digital formats, involve local communities in content creation, and ensure technological solutions are scalable and easily integrated into existing tourism and educational activities.
