Cross-Re-Tour is a project coordinated by Stichting Breda University of Applied Sciences, in the Netherlands, and co financed through Single Market Programme – Europe’s programme for small and medium-sized enterprises. It aims to foster cross-domain open innovation by supporting tourism SMEs in implementing innovative digital, green, and circular economy solutions in partnership with stakeholders from various sectors.
Under this scope, 2.4 million euros will be allocated to support 80 tourism SMEs in adopting innovative solutions, products, and practices. The main goal is to enhance their operational performance while addressing challenges related to climate change, sustainability, and digitization.
The first step in the Cross-Re-Tour mission is to identify specific challenges faced by tourism SMEs in their green and digital transformation. In this sense, the project has launched a Call for Challenges: by submitting their challenges related to one of the business areas established by Cross-Re-Tour (water, energy, plastic, transport, food, equipment and furniture, client nudging, staff nudging) SMEs can access tailored support services, training opportunities, and a network of peers to propel their business forward.
In addition to receiving business support, guidance, and learning opportunities, SMEs admitted to the program will gain exclusive insights into the application process for the upcoming Call for Proposals, through which selected candidates will receive financial support of up to €30.000 to implement their own sustainable innovation projects. Ten SMEs will be selected from each country that is part of the project: Germany; Spain (Catalonia); Latvia; Montenegro; Malta; The Netherlands; Portugal; and Slovenia.
